Booking a Banquet Hall What to Consider

Monday, March 31st, 2008

By Gordon Petten Booking a banquet hall for your wedding party is a very important decision. You must first make sure that you know how many people will be coming to your wedding and then use that information to book a venue that is spacious enough to accommodate everyone comfortably. You should also consider the community where the banquet hall is in and the more “upscale” the community, the better. For example, holding a wedding party in the banquet halls or ballrooms of a fancy hotel in the city is often the ideal place for a wedding party, but you need to work with your budget to find a location. As far as the interior of the banquet hall is concerned, the best thing you can do is to plan everything out so you know where the food will be served and where guests will be setting, and all of the other important details that must be considered when booking a venue and planning the party. You should also make sure that the area is easily accessible and won’t be cluttered with tables and chairs so that everyone can walk freely throughout the banquet hall. You should also make sure that there is a dance floor or a designated area to dance as often times at wedding parties, the key focus is placed on the food and the dancing so if your venue can accommodate these two aspects, everything else should fall into place. Again, with a banquet hall be sure to book months in advance as often times, the more famous venues (in hotels or other upscale establishments in the area) are booked very early and you do not want to have your wedding approaching without a place to hold it. Hence, I strongly suggest that you book the venue at least three to four months prior to the wedding to insure that you will have a location and set time that will not be assigned to anyone else. Once you complete this task, you can check this item off your to do list which is nice as choosing a location for the wedding and party is often the toughest aspect of planning a wedding. In short, make sure you find a place that meets all your needs and size requirements and then book that venue well in advance. If you follow the steps above and complete the arduous task of choosing a venue for you wedding early, a lot of the stress associated with planning a wedding should be eliminated. Tropical Palm Trees

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

By Kevin Stith Weather and climate conditions all over the world vary because of various features. This includes average and daily temperatures, rain, snow, precipitation, wind speed, humidity and cloud cover. Based upon longitude and latitude locations, different regions experience diverse weather types. When referring to a tropical zone, it refers to the area lying between the Tropic of Cancer (2327′N) and the Tropic of Capricorn (2327′S) with the Equator passing through these two latitudes. These areas experience hot and humid climates and adequate rainfall, which varies depending upon location. When classifying terms that refer to tropical, it may refer to vegetation, organisms or weather. As the term suggests, tropical palm trees refer to the wide variety of palm species that are indigenous to this region. Tropical zones are distinguished as areas that experience high temperatures, humidity and rainfall. These conditions are favorable for a large number of palm species. Palm trees refer to a wide range of plants categorized under the Palmae family. They have a unique unbranched trunk and leaves that can be classified as pinnate or palmate leaves, depending upon palm type and place of origin. The palm family constitutes about 1100 varieties and can be found in other climate zones as well. Palm trees are found in abundance in most countries that are located in this zone. Since tropical zones are categorized by warm conditions, plant growth is sustained all through the year. Most tropical palm species are Since they are so widely spread it is difficult to categorize each plant according to its origin. This is because over time, palm tree varieties have traveled long distances and are now found in areas that are far away from their original backdrop. There are three major tropical palm landscapes. This includes locales in Africa, Asia and America. Depending upon unique weather conditions that vary in different continents, countries and states, tropical palm trees that dominate the landscape vary. In certain areas, tropical palm trees even grow under other weather conditions in a sporadic manner. Choosing a Career

Friday, March 28th, 2008

By Rajashree Sen Many youngsters are completely baffled when they are asked what they would like to do after college. It is a question, which is very commonly asked to which many find no proper answer. This state is not abnormal or a matter of discredit if one finds himself or herself in a similar situation. From a very young age that is from the time a child is admitted to a school he or she is bound in a routine as decided by the authorities of the educational institute. It is by following the routine and the already imposed syllabus that the child has to perform. Thus the practice of self-assessment doesnt arise as to whether the child can manage to maintain the routine and perform as per guidelines already imposed upon them. Thus when the inevitable time comes when the child is suddenly set free to decide as to what he or she would like to take up as a career a sudden helplessness develops. Further it is the constant pressure of faring well is what makes the decision making more difficult. However it is not all a great task to find out what really suits one best. Making a successful career would require the key ingredients of luck, confidence, expertise and lots of determination to stick to it. As one ponders over the issue of the right career to choose after college it is not possible to know at the very outset what kind of opportunities would come ones ways. However it is definitely possible to assess what talents and strong points one has. It is based on these assets that one can pave way to the right career. No one knows oneself better than the one. Thus it is not at all difficult to figure out ones interests and priorities. However it is not only enough to know what interests one but it is equally important to have a clear idea as to what it would take to build up a career based on that interest. So a thorough homework regarding the interest zone is must. In this regard surfing the net, relevant reading would do a great deal in understanding the criteria needed to make it big in that particular field of interest. Obviously there is no set rule described anywhere as to how to achieve any particular career. One has to have self initiative as to explore and find out new avenues to reach the desired goal. Ten Reasons Why Most Yellow Page Ads Fail -And Yours Does Not Have to

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

By Dr. Lynella Grant Grant Directory users are ready to buy Yellow Pages have a major advantage over all other forms of advertising. It’s used precisely when people have decided to buy. They open the directory to check out options and sources. The directory doesn’t create their desire, but assists in finding the products and services they want. A typical telephone directory has 18,000 display ads - a recipe for sensory overload. Even within any category, readers encounter page after page of look-alikes, all jammed together. So it’s easy for advertisers to get overlooked. Catching the reader’s attention is tough - unless your ad differs from the others in ways that matter to readers. Find out how to get more mileage from your ad at http://www.yellowpagesage.com a smarter way to attract Yellow Page customers. The ideal Yellow Page ad provides the answers readers want to find A great ad provides the connection between what buyers expect to learn before buying AND what your particular business offers. The more precisely a business understands its customers’ frame of mind, the better it anticipates and answers their questions. It can provide specifics, instead of the general phrases appearing in every competitors’ ads. Avoid these common reasons why directory ads fail, so you get more mileage from your ad dollars. And a higher percentage of callers and sales.Fails to provide the information directory users want Information trumps images and expensive extras, like color. Readers are looking for specific answers. Use your ad space delivering them. Words provide persuasion’s heavy lifting. If your message applies equally to the other ads around yours, you haven’t sharpened it enough. Keep honing the copy until it embodies why people prefer YOU. Fades into background - doesn’t get noticed While larger ads can be overlooked, smaller ads have to work harder for the same shot at being noticed. Overlooked ads cost just as much as chosen ones. The solution isn’t about changing the size, but focusing the words to match what readers want to know. It comes down to saying something unique and relevant to them. Treats the business name or logo like a benefit It isn’t. That’s probably the least relevant information, as far as directory users are concerned. Yellow Pages aren’t the way to build name recognition. But if you’ve already developed name recognition in other ways, you have a major chance of getting called. Inconvenient business location Half of all users scan for location before actually reading the ads’ information. They only pay attention to businesses that are convenient (within driving distance) and easy to find. (That distance varies depending on the product or service.) So make sure your location is prominent and findable (maybe a map). Or compensate for an undesirable location with house calls or free delivery. Expects more than an ad could possibly deliver This problem isn’t about the ad, but the advertiser’s frame of mind. There’s too much hype and biased statistics about what the directory can deliver. New businesses, especially, have unrealistic expectations. The longer a business is in operation, the less impact their listing has upon drawing new business. Treats the Yellow Pages like a stand-alone marketing method It works best for getting new customers, to capture the “undecideds.” But relying on mostly new business is an inefficient way to operate. An enterprise also needs repeat customers and referrals to balance out the high financial and effort costs necessary to keep attracting new ones. Therefore, a business needs a variety of strategies to keep, as well as find, buyers. Trusts ad size and placement to do the work Industry statistics show that larger ads and those toward the front of the category get more calls. But that over simplifies what makes people choose a particular ad. If an ad doesn’t fit the reader’s preferences or match what they’re looking for, it will be passed by (whatever its size). Looks like the rest Too bad if your ad doesn’t capture the eye in the two seconds it passed by - then landed somewhere else. That’s all the attention most ads get. Look-alike ads were probably done for free by directory employees. They follow standardized guidelines and templates without much variation. And they don’t have a clue about what’s special about your operation. That’s not the best way to go. Fails to track the calls so you know why people call No getting around it, if you don’t keep track of customers you can’t tell how they find you. Or what’s working (or not). Logging the source of new business shows how much credit to give to the Yellow Pages (or other marketing efforts). Callers can’t get information they want That ad did its job fine. But the customer still got away because the call wasn’t answered or desired information wasn’t forthcoming. Fielding calls effectively is crucial because unsatisfied callers just call the next ad. Develop a strategy that covers all your bases An attention-grabbing Yellow Page ad doesn’t just happen. The business needs to back it up with additional promotion to get more than their share of calls. But when the directory works together with other marketing effort, they all do better. 2004, Lynella Grant –Dr. Lynella Grant, an expert in visual communication. Simple Tests To Assess The Severity Of Brain Injury In Children

Monday, March 24th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Russel_Clark] Russel Clark If your child is too young to talk and cannot therefore explain what is wrong, it is difficult to assess the effect of that little knock to the head. It could well be benign. However, it could also be a lot more serious. If you suspect your child has incurred some form of brain injury, the first 24 hours are the most critical. It is during this period that the first symptoms appear. If you can diagnose the problem during this time and get prompt medical attention, the chances are that you can limit the damage and prevent any permanent effect. A good free resource to get up to speed in the cause and effect of brain injuries is www.brain-injury-hotline.com. Consult that site for more detailed information. So, how do you determine whether or not your child has suffered brain injury? There are three simple tests you can apply to children from about 9 months to about 3 years of age: Test for Alertness. During waking hours, most children are alert and playful. So, if your childs behavior is normal, he/she is probably OK. However, if the infant is lethargic during his normal active time, there could be a problem. This is especially true if he or she fails to respond to any stimulation. Test for Inactivity. Irrespective of their age, children are always active during their waking hours. (Obviously this excludes infants!). If the child displays no desire to move or has sluggish actions, you will want to continue with the other tests to help determine whether or nor there is any damage. Test for Vision. Hold your hand about 5 inches from your childs face. Wave it back and forth. If your child follows the movement with his eye, you know that at a minimum he or she can see and the brain can react to an external stimulus. This is a positive sign. It is important to note that these tests should be considered as guides only. Even if they all indicate that nothing is wrong, there could still be a potential problem which you should investigate. However, if the child fails even one of these simple tests, seek medical attention urgently. Break Up & Divorce - Should You Condemn Yourself to a Bad Relationship Because of Religion and Guilt

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Jennifer L. Hunt If you’re in a bad marriage and are really unhappy, should you separate, get a divorce, or stay in the marriage? This is not a cut and dry decision as there are many factors to consider. We’re about to step outside the box and ask you to question beliefs that you may have never thought to question before. In other words, have an open mind as you read the rest of this article. Background - Is this a bad relationship? Imagine the following scenario… I was married for twelve years to a man (S) that deserted me twice. He also had numerous extra-marital infidelities. He took his stuff and left this last time about a year and a half ago. I tried and tried to talk to him but he refused to talk to me or answer my phone calls. I was just heartbroken. He was my second husband. My first husband wasn’t unfaithful, but he had an explosive temper and shouted and screamed at me. And even though he never actually hit me, I was afraid of him. Anyway, seven months after my second husband left me I decided to try and move on with my life. I met a wonderful man (D). He was everything I had wanted - Caring, responsible, trustful and very loving. We started slowly, but after awhile I fell deeply in love with him. And he fell in love with me. I hired an attorney. I filed for divorce. After I had been with D for around four months he proposed to me. I was very excited and accepted. I knew our relationship was perfect and we had a wonderful life ahead of us. We were doing everything together and I was so happy. S somehow found out and started to phone me. He told me he wanted us to get back together. He told me he would never do any of the things he had done to me before. He said he had found God and was going to church now. He said that he was a changed man. He said I was still his wife and I owed him another chance to prove he had changed. He told me he was a broken man and was thinking about suicide. I finally allowed him to see me he cried and cried and pleaded with me telling me he had changed. I felt so guilty . Should she take her husband back or stay with her new found love? What would you do? Love and Fear While this is a very emotional situation, you should not allow yourself to feel guilty about anything another person does or experiences. They make their own choices in life and their experiences are their own. Be understanding and empathize with the other person, but never, ever, make yourself responsible for what another person is experiencing. You can control how you behave and respond to a situation, but that is where your control ends. Never let another person make you feel guilty . There is no right or wrong choice in life because we grow from each experience - some choices just work better for us than others. Even the ones that didn’t work out quite like you hoped provide the opportunity to grow. Sometimes the best way to figure out what we want is to experience what we don’t want. Try to learn from past experiences so that you don’t keep repeating them over and over. The Universe, or God, seems to keep sending you the same situation or experience until you learn the lesson that you need to learn from that specific experience. In other words, patterns keep repeating until you get it right. Our emotional scale has two extremes - love and fear. In every situation - ask yourself if you’re acting out of love or fear, and always try to act out of love. Now that doesn’t mean letting someone walk all over you… You need to make decisions that feel right in your heart, in the core of your being, in your gut, however you want to explain it. Just make sure that you’re not making your decisions out of fear, anger, guilt, jealousy, revenge or any other negative emotion. Others may react to your decisions with a negative emotion, but remember what I said in the beginning - You can only control your responses, not theirs. If another person chooses to respond to something you do with a negative emotion, that’s their decision and you can’t control what they do. You can only accept their reaction with love and understanding. Make your life decisions based on what feels right for you. Many, but not all, will disagree with me, but the only person that you are ultimately responsible for in this life is you. Others come and go from your life so that you can further the experience of life, but you come into this life on your own and you leave on your own, so make sure that while your here you take care of YOU. Religion and Guilt When you choose to get advice from a religious counselor, remember that he is bound by the rules and regulations of whichever religion he chooses to follow. And those rules and regulations are not always based on love, but may also be based on control and trying to make the followers act and behave in a manner the religion deems appropriate. Forgiveness, however, is the most powerful tool that you have in this life. I believe there’s a quote that goes something like… “Forgiveness is God’s gift to the forgiver, not the forgiven” - something like that. It’s very true because when you forgive someone you let go of all the negative emotions around that situation whether or not the other person even knows that you forgave them. This may sound harsh, but I would ditch the church counselor. He does not necessarily have your best interest in mind. His main concern is that you follow the rules of the church, whether you’re happy or not. And I believe that we are all here to experience happiness. The doctrine of misery is fabricated by modern organized religion. They tell us that we have to suffer to be good people. Have you really read the Bible? I can’t find anywhere in the Bible that says we need to be miserable to be good people. My interpretation of Jesus’ teachings and the Bible is that we should love and accept everyone and every experience that comes into our life unconditionally because life is perfection. Sure, modern religion misquotes many specific passages in the Bible which have been translated by many different writers with many different perceptions through many different languages over thousands of years - and then tells us to follow their rules or go to Hell. I believe that Hell is defined by the self perpetrated misery that many people put themselves through each and every day. “Hell is what we experience when we are not true to ourselves.” We don’t need religion to tell us what is right and wrong. As long as you come from a place of love and acceptance, you’ll always make the right decisions. I’ve never known a truly spiritual person who judges or condemns another person. Why would an all powerful God need to judge us - that would be like us judging the actions of ant in an anthill on a tiny island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean … OK, enough ranting on modern religion… In Summary If you find yourself in a similar situation, Follow your heart and do what you feel to be right. Stop listening to other people who are not on your path. You’ve heard the old saying to walk a mile in another’s shoes before judging them. Well, the fact is that no one has walked in your shoes and they have no right to tell you what is right or wrong for you. Stop repeating old patterns and stop punishing yourself for things that others perceive to be wrong. Follow your heart and your passions. Only then will you truly be happy. Payday Loans: The Way to Go When You Need Cash Urgently

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Mary_Wise]Mary Wise A personal loan takes at least a couple of days to be approved and sometimes people dont have that much time. This is true for example if cash for medicine is needed by a sudden accident or illness, a personal loan cannot solve this kind of problem but a payday loan can. Few Requirements Payday loans do not require thorough credit checks or collateral which makes them very attractive for those who have bad credit or do not own a property. In fact, requirements for a payday loan are minimal; you just need to have a bank account and a job. Compared with all the requirements needed for applying for a personal loan, especially at banks, payday loans are a far more accessible financial option. When time is an issue When you don’t have enough time, nothing compares to payday loans. No bank or lender could ever approve up to $2000 in less than 24 hours, the time needed to fill and approve all the paperwork required for a personal loan takes far more than that. Payday loan lenders, on the other hand, are used to process loan request within hours. There are few requirements to check and before you know you get the money transferred to your account. A payday loan is usually due by the time your next paycheck arrives. So you dont have much time for repaying, nor have you, except in certain situations, the possibility to extend the repayment program. This loans are intended for an emergency situation, that being said, if you wont be able to repay the loan you should use the time you gain to get approved for a more flexible personal loan, repayable in installments. Interest rate Payday loans carry a high interest rate; this is due to the fact that there is a very high risk involved for the lender. The truth is that the lender lacks almost any guarantee that the borrower will be able to repay what he owes. To compensate this, he charges a high interest rate, and offers a short period of time for repayment. Loan Amounts Loan amounts are not high, usually the loan amount offered ranges between $500 and $1000. However, in certain cases you may be able to find lenders willing to lend up to $2000. But if you need more money than that, you will have no choice but to wait to get approved for a personal loan. Great for those with Bad Credit When you apply for a payday loan your credit report wont be pulled, so it doesnt matter if you have low credit. You just will have to offer proof of a job and provide your bank account number in order for the lender to transfer the funds. 100% Online There isnt much paperwork involved. In fact, there are faxless payday loans offered on the net. The whole process is performed online. It isnt difficult to find these lenders, there are many sites offering access to lots of payday loan lenders so you can compare rates and see which lender best suits your needs. Know your Man: Buddies

Monday, March 17th, 2008

By Maria Moratto “Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.” ~ Benjamin Franklin. “He was a wise man who invented beer.” ~ Plato. Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza. ~ Dave Barry Men love to go to a pub to have beer with his friends and to take trips with them. That does not mean they will go out and cheat on us. They deserve to have a good time even when we are not with them. That does not mean they are selfish; it is just that they need to have their space and not feel that they are trapped or that they are a hostage in life. Trips are especially fun: He might get drunk; he will curse, fart and burp, eat out of a can of tuna and do whatever else he wishes without having us nag and complain at him for letting down his faade. We each have a way of enjoying our time with our friends. This is one of his ways. The other day I read that this guy wanted to go on a fishing trip with his friends and arranged everything, including putting his professional life on hold and negotiating many small deals with his wife. Now I ask you: why did he have to negotiate anything with his wife? We need to understand that people need to relax and, in the case of men, a trip or a visit to a pub with his buddies is one of the best and uncomplicated ways for him to do so. We should be the first to encourage such trips as they get back home very relaxed and most of the times, more loving. Now, of course there are horror stories about fishing trips. Frauke, my friends wife truly encouraged him to go a fishing trip and when he came back, he realized that she had left the country with their two daughters. A story for you: A 66 year old Romanian man is recovering in the hospital after trying to escape his wife by swinging from tree to tree, like Tarzan. He wanted to join his friends for a drinking spree, but his wife locked him in his bedroom. He climbed through the window and grabbed a tree vine, and managed to swing to another tree before plummeting to earth and breaking his arm, leg, and ankle. It was more difficult than it looked in Tarzan movies, he said. I forgot to take into account that Tarzan was a lot younger. The Week, July 22, 2005, p. 14 A Word of Advice:Ladies: Let them go. They will be so thankful that you will then have leverage for other more important issues, such as choosing the color of the dining room walls. Gents: Go on a fishing trip or pub (or whatever) with your buddies but spend the same amount of time (or even more) in leisure with your spouse and your family. That shall calm her down, since it is a fair trade. Maria Moratto 2006 Want to have more abundance, health, time, love, fun, and blessings? Wedding Vows

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

By Julia Tweed Planning your wedding requires you to make a multitude of decisions, but none may be as important as the words you choose to exchange as your wedding vows. A vow is by definition a solemn promise and, therefore, should not be taken lightly. These words seal your commitment to each other. Many couples wish to write their own vows, as they believe that their own words will be more meaningful than the traditional vows. Before you start drafting your vows, you need to talk with your officiant. Your faith or denomination may have requirements or your officiant may have specific words that you cannot deviate from. Once you have received the go ahead to write your own vows, the pressure is on to come up with just the right words to communicate your feelings toward each other. Whatever you do, don’t wait until the very last minute to write your vows. That will only create more stress and you really need to have the officiant review them, and approve them before the wedding ceremony. Writing your vows may be easier if you break down the traditional vows and analyse what it is that the vows are conveying. The traditional vows contain a statement of affection; you promise to "love and cherish" each other. You promise your faithfulness with the wording "forsaking all others". You vow to love unconditionally with the wording "for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health". Lastly, you are saying that it will be a permanent relationship with the words "as long as we both shall live". It may make the writing of vows much easier if you take the four base promises of affection, faithfulness, unconditional and permanence, think about what those promises mean to you, then convey your feelings in your own words. Another way to begin your process of writing your vows would be to take a piece of paper and answer these questions: Why do you love your fiance? What about them inspires you? What are your dreams for the future? What makes the two of you unique? What difficult problems or life trials have you been through and how did you work them out? Answering these questions may help to identify the special qualities and uniqueness of your relationship. As you write your vows, keep in mind that you are writing them for and about your fiance, be sincere. This isn’t a speech you are giving to the guests at your wedding. After you have finished writing your vows and they have been approved by your wedding officiant, practice reciting them. You want to be comfortable with the wording and you don’t want to stumble over any of the words. The most important thing is that when you look into the eyes of your soon to be husband or wife, you want them to know that the words you recite as your wedding vows are coming from your heart.
